About the Organization

Westwood Collaborative Network was formed in December of 2007.  The previous name was Southern Westwood Neighborhood Association which only served the resident of the southern portion of Westwood.  With our name change all of Westwood is now being severed by the Collaborative Network. 

Past Accomplishments

2008

  • Sponsor one large cleanup each year in the Westwood area
  • Hosted a welcome dinner for Chief Biehl, city of Dayton's chief of police
  • Donated fresh vegetables to the Southwest Priority Board that supported 14 families
  • Established a P.O. Box
  • Worked with neighbors in Westwood, Macedonia Baptist Church and police to help stop the liquor permit for BINGO Drive Thursday (successfully)
  • Sponsored different guest speakers for the Westwood Collaborative Network membership meetings
  • Partnership with the 3rd district police department to help with the curfew

2009

  • Partnership with the Westwood PK-8 School and helped with their grand opening and their Mother And Son Banquet
  • Participated in the Southwest Priority Board Black History Program
  • Established a complete executive board for the Westwood Collaborative Network
  • Four Southwest Priority Board meetings were established in the Westwood area
  • Sponsored different guest speakers for the Westwood Collaborative Network membership meetings
  • Mayor's Walk sponsored near the Wayman Church area
  • Partnership with the 3rd district police department regarding scams in the Westwood area
  • One large cleanup for the Westwood area completed
  • Establshed a quarterly newsletter

2010

  • Neighbors, businesses, churches in the Westwood area came together to stop the liquor permit for Walgreens (successfully)
  • One large cleanup in the Westwood area completed
  • Sponsored a thank you dinner for two of the businesses on the West side: Estridge and Rens Market
  • Formed a committee that helped with the 2010 census
  • First neighborhood garage sale throughout the Westwood area
  • Held our first Chili/Soup Fair
  • Neighborhood raffle
  • Working on obtaining our 501c3
